With the donation of an antique press to LexArts, the local arts organization, the BPC opened in 2004. Since then our group has grown to twenty artists working in all types of print media: collagraphs, monoprints, etchings, woodcuts, linoleum cuts, and solar etchings. We showcase these different techniques during Lexington’s Gallery Hops. Not only do members use the press to create their own art, but we also work as a group to promote printmaking through exhibitions and community outreach.
The mission of the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative, BPC, is to be a thriving print studio in the Lexington area where printmakers work and create a dialogue about prints and art. Through demonstrations and workshops we expose the community to prints and educate them about printmaking process. As members of the cooperative, printmakers have the opportunity to exhibit and promote their art throughout the region.
