Creative Women of Color
Columbus Invitational Arts Competition
Our artists reflect a huge diversity of talent. We range from painters, illustrators and sculptors to fashion designers, jewelry makers and photographers. We come from many different backgrounds yet we share many common threads.
Creative Women of Color is a collective of African American women artists whose mission is to educate, encourage, inspire and provide a creative connection with the community for the purpose of advancing the arts.
Creative Women of Color views art as a powerful social force; a form of expression that has always been part of the structure of our society. As African American Woman artists, our work is influenced by our heritage and cultural traditions. CWOC represents a broad and diverse range of artistic talent.
We sponsor workshops for youth and adults, including the Rise Sister Rise, Girl's Resiliency Conference, the Ohio Dept of Transportation, Take a Kid to Work Day. We annually volunteer at the Winterfair Art Making Table for youth. Our members are currently planning a series of workshops to accompany our May 2012 exhibit at the King Arts Complex, Speak: Women Sharing Voices Through Art.
